Welcome to the Cambridge World Development Movement group
Sue and Beth finally got to ask Cambridgeshire County Council about its carbon reduction targets at Full Council on Tuesday 8 December. They pointed out that the County not only failed to reach its carbon reduction target of 8% for its business miles but allowed business miles to go up by 13%. This got covered on BBC Radio Cambs + 2 other radio stations and in Cambridge Evening News. We need to follow this up with more questions to the County about what can be done to reduce its carbon emissions.
Cambridge WDM cut a cake in Kings Parade for Climate campaigner Mary Keynes who celebrated her eightieth birthday on 3 December by cycling 200 miles from Bradford in Yorkshire to London. Mary with campaign group Climate Chains took five days to cycle to London to join the WAVE march on Saturday 5 December, staying in Cambridge on the way for Thursday night. Lots of local campaigners waved them off including Cambridge WDM, Stop Climate Chaos and Cambridge Carbon Footprint. You can see pictures at http://www.flickr.com/photos/wdm/
Active since 1975, Cambridge WDM now campaigns on Climate Change, Trade and Debt. The FairTrade Guide to Cambridge was produced by Cambridge WDM in 2005 with an update in 2007. To see a copy click here .
