The people of the lesser developed countries have suffered so much. But there are those who try to change this sad situation. I give thanks to WDM and its work.

Overview
Our local Group is quite small but meets 7 or 8 times a year for planning meetings and campaign actions. We promote 2 or 3 major public meetings in Cheltenham or Gloucester each year on current issues. Supporters are welcome whether members of WDM nationally or not.
Local members have supported the Trade Justice Campaign events, the Edinburgh G8 parade and the MPs Lobby in Westminster. Members are also in regular contact with local MPs, one of whom is a WDM member!
Our Group works closely with FoE, Cheltenham UNA, Glos Fairtrade Network and Christian Aid.
Events
Countdown to Copenhagen
WDM members along with over 20 other NGOs recently lobbied the local Labour MP and Tory MEP. We took part in a dynamic human clock in the Cathedral precincts counting down to 12 o'clock. This was featured on TV's Points West.
Our Group will be joining Friends of the Earth and other NGOs at the Cheltenham Film Society's showing of 'The Age of Stupid'. This is on Friday 6 November at the Bacon Theatre, Dean Close School, Cheltenham at 7.30. All are welcome. More info at:-http://www.sitka.demon.co.uk/cfs09.htm
The latest edition of our Newsletter GLOUCESTERSHIRE GLOBAL has recently been published. It highlights both national and local development issues and challenges individuals to further direct action. Details from Malcolm NUNN, the WDM Group contact or David Evans on 01242 244874.
The Group Committee is now exploring other events for the next session. It desperately needs help from WDM members and supporters in Gloucestershire so that we can respond to the various opportunities for campaigning in this area.
